I’m a currently pursuing a PhD in Transnational Governance at Scuola Normale Superiore and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. My research interests are focused on militant Islamist groups, especially in Syria. In particular, my PhD project aims to analyze their political preferences, to understand their choice of local- and/or global-oriented strategies—ideally, trying to bridge area studies, research on conflict and political violence, and social movement studies. Before joining Scuola Normale, I worked at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI). I’m currently a member of the COSMOS Center on Social Movement Studies (based at Scuola Normale), of ERIS working group (Sant’Anna School), and of the 100esperte network (www.100esperte.it).
