Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the motivations, agendas, priorities and practices of corporate political activities (CPA) in Brazil in order to understand how multinational companies influence the Federal Government policies on the international business agenda that make it possible to develop competitive advantages for the international insertion or preserve its position against foreign competitors in the Brazilian market. Since 2000, the Brazilian international business agenda became increasingly complex, with the establishment of new channels of participation and involvement of private actors in the processes of policy formulation in Brazil on international issues. It becomes relevant to understand the motivations and political practices of the APC in Brazil, as well as the private sector agenda priorities in their interactions with the Federal Government. Thus, the paper will present the results of the survey conducted, from January to March 2016, with multinational companies established in Brazil, seeking to understand the associations between governmental policy agenda in international business, strategic intent, levels of participation, motivating and practices corporate policies in Brazil.
