Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela

Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela is a professor of Sociology at the University of Ljubljana. She teaches Sociology of Work, Economic Sociology and Gender, Work and Organisations at the Faculty of Social Scieneces. An important part of her research is devoted to the analysis of gender and economy. Her teaching, research, international networks and consultancy activities are in the fields of industrial relations, work and organisation, gender, ownership.

From 1999-2001 she was a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, Department of Industrial Relations, UK. In 2019 she was teaching Gender, Work and Organisations at the University Sichuan, China. Since 2003 she is the coordinator of the national centre for the European Foundation for Living and Working Conditions, Dublin, Ireland at the Organisations and HR Research Centre, FSS.

She has been a member of the Network of Experts in the Fields of Employment, Social Inclusion and Gender Equality Issues (European Commission), since 2004. From 2011 she was an associate editor, and from 2015 she is an editor of Social Politics (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1994). From 2007 to 2011 she was Vice Dean and from 2015 she is Head of Doctoral School of University of Ljubljana.

Roman Kuhar

Roman Kuhar is Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and head of the research project ‘Citizenship and discrimination: intersectional approach to the study of social exclusion’.

His work has been published in numerous academic journals, including Critical Social PolicyJournal of Homosexuality and Women’s Studies International Forum. He is the author of several books and co-editor of volumes on: (with J. Takács) Beyond the Pink Curtain: Everyday life of LGBT people in Eastern Europe (2007), Doing Families: Gay and Lesbian Family Practices (2011) and (with D. Paternotte) Anti-gender Campaigns in Europe: Mobilizing against Equality (2017). He is associate editor at Social Politics. Contact Roman by email.

Jasna Mikić

Jasna Mikić is a junior researcher, a faculty assistant in the field of sociology and a member of the Research Centre for Organizational and Human Resources at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her main research interests are in gender and language, social inequalities, labour market precarity, and neuroscience (neurofeminism, neurolinguistics).

Her work included collaboration on two projects in 2015 in 2016 that directly address the topic of gender and power in the economy (EQPOWEREC - Gender equality in distribution of economic power: Understanding and overcoming obstacles to gender equality in economic decision making (Norwegian Financial Mechanism), and Accessibility of the labour market for women and men in Slovenia (Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities). She is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Review of Economics and Economic Methodology (REEM). She will be participating as a teaching assistant in Sociology of Work and Gender, Power and Language in 2020/2021.

Petra Ahrens

Petra Ahrens received her PhD in Sociology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany. She is Senior Researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tampere University, Finland, and previously held positions as Assistant Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and as Marie-Curie-Sklodowska-Fellow and Guest Professor at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

Her research focuses on gender policies and politics in the European Union and its institutions, transnational civil society organisations, and gender equality in Germany. She is currently co-chair of the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics. Silvia Erzeel

Silvia Erzeel is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium.

Her research interests include party politics, political representation, gender and intersectionality, and comparative politics. Her current research focuses on three main areas: the integration of gender equality in political parties, intersectionality and political representation in Europe, and the consequences of economic and social inequality for representative democracy. She is currently Steering Committee Co-chair of the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics.

Anna van der Vleuten

Anna van der Vleuten is full professor of Contesting Europeanization at the Department of Political Science, Radboud University, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on norm contestations in the field of body and identity politics, gender, LGBTI rights, EU and comparative regionalism (Europe, Africa and Latin America).

She has co-edited a Special Issue of Political Studies Review on gender in EU external relations in times of crisis, with Hanna Muehlenhoff and Natalie Welfens; and a Special Issue of Politics and Governance on Trans*Politics: current challenges and contestations, with Mieke Verloo. 

Robin Devroe

Robin Devroe is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Political Sciences of Ghent University and member of the research group GASPAR.

Her main research interest is the study of the political representation of diverse social groups and voting behaviour, with a specific focus on the descriptive representation of women, and she has a fascination for experimental methods. In the past, Robin was a visiting scholar at Texas A&M University (2018, US). Since 2020, she has been co-convenor of the European Consortium for Political Research’s (ECPR’s) Group on Gender and Politics.

Rosa Roig

Conny Roggeband is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Amsterdam. She has written extensively on the politicization of gender-based violence, gender mainstreaming and equality policies, social movements and transnational feminist networking. Her current research focuses on the implications of democratic backsliding for gender equality policies in Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America. She co-authored (with Andrea Krizsan) The Gender Politics of Domestic Violence. Feminists Engaging the State in Central and Eastern Europe (Routledge 2018). She edited (together with Bert Klandermans) The Handbook of Social Movements Across Disciplines (Springer 2017); with Anna van der Vleuten and Anouka van Eerdewijk Gender Equality Norms in Regional Governance: Transnational Dynamics in Europe, South America and Southern Africa (Palgrave 2014), and with Jacquelien van Stekelenburg and Bert Klandermans The Future of Social Movement Research: Dynamics, Mechanisms and Processes (University of Minnesota Press 2013).

Rosa Roig

Rossella Ciccia is Associate Professor of Social Policy in in the Department of Social Policy and Intervention and a Fellow of Green Templeton College. Her research interests lie in field of comparative social policy with a particular focus on issues relating to social inequalities, gender, care and paid work. Her research was awarded the nominee honor for the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work/Family Research in 2015. In February 2020, she received the inaugural Emma Goldman award in recognition of the substantial contributions of her research to knowledge on feminist and inequality issues in Europe. Prior to joining the University of Oxford, she has held positions at Queen’s University Belfast, Scuola Normale Superiore, Maynooth University and Radboud University Nijmegen and several other European universities.
