The climate emergency is one of the most profound challenges facing democracies today. For decades, science has demonstrated irrefutable evidence of climate change. Yet there remains a lack of political will to fully address its causes, and the reactions of social and political actors to the climate crisis often fall short.
Held in conjunction with our 2023 Winter School, this House Series debate took stock of the contribution that political science can make to tackling the climate crisis.
The event brought together quantitative and qualitative methods specialists to discuss the various ways of studying political phenomena related to climate change politics and policy, and the implications these different methods have on the knowledge created.
All instalments in our House Series are FREE to attend and open to scholars from both ECPR Member and non-member institutions.
Harbour House, our HQ in the UK, is a literal and metaphorical ‘home’ for the ECPR community.
The Series is designed to provide platforms and spaces for discourse, reaching out beyond academe and shining a light on the work of our discipline.
Each talk seeks to open doors to some of the most pressing issues across the discipline, and is followed by an extended Q&A session.
